Calligraphy
In my early days, I did a lot of calligraphy and drawings - what I consider to be crafts rather than art. In 1986 I even started a book on Calligraphy. And now I could finally take the time to finish it. It is not updated to new materials or techniques, but considering it covers about 2000 years of script alfabets, it is still pretty much up-to-date...
The gallery shows some examples of work and alfabets from the book - that is in Dutch, alas for foreign viewers.
Book: Calligraphy
In 1986 I was commissioned by a publisher to make a book about calligraphy - around that time a major part of my daily work. The book was never finished, because my advertising work got the upper hand and I had had enough of calligraphy. But the book was already largely there - literally in manuscript form - and now (2025) I found the time to finish it. And I also felt like making work literally by hand again

The PDF is in a relatively low resolution: 120 pages in only 14 Mb. The many examples of workpieces and alphabets are therefore not very sharp. Do you want to see everything in detail? Then email me for a high-res version. Or perhaps a printed copy. A small edition with hard cover has been made.
